  • Mercer’s DC offering wins ‘DC Innovation’ and ‘DC Investment Innovation’ of the year

  • Mercer was also highly commended for the Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) Excellence Award

Mercer’s Defined Contribution (DC) and Individual Wealth (IW) business has been awarded ‘DC Innovation’ and ‘DC Investment Innovation’ at the UK Pensions Awards 2018. The consultancy was also highly commended for the Diversity and Inclusion Excellence award. The awards ceremony was held on Wednesday 23 May and celebrated the advisers, providers and investment managers that offer the highest level of innovation, performance and service to occupational pension schemes and their members.

Over the last year Mercer has developed a Next Gen DC framework which provides greater focus and innovative ideas to help the three main decisions that have the biggest effect on member outcomes – contributions, investment and appropriate retirement decisions. Specifically on DC investments Mercer has expanded the opportunity for DC schemes to access existing opportunities already available to DB schemes including illiquid allocations such as private markets and property secondaries as well as developing the case for  alternative risk premia to name but a few.

“We would really like to share our award with our clients who both encourage and challenge us to innovate,” said Stephen Budge, a Principal in Mercer’s Wealth business. “We are proud to work with some of the largest and well governed arrangements in the country and this award is testament to their drive to seek to improve member outcomes.”

Mercer’s submission for the Diversity and Inclusion Excellence award highlighted the company’s three-year D&I strategic plan, internal business resource groups, and the unconscious bias training provided to managers.
