Mercer, a global consulting leader in advancing health, wealth and career, and a wholly owned subsidiary of Marsh & McLennan Companies (NYSE: MMC), has been recognised for its leadership on workplace gender equality by being named in The Times Top 50 Employers for Women for the third time. The Times Top 50 Employers for Women is published in partnership with Business in the Community (BITC), the Prince’s Responsible Business Network, as part of the charity’s Responsible Business Week.

The alphabetical and unranked list celebrates UK employers that are building gender equality into their business strategy and have committed to creating inclusive workplace cultures and women’s progression at work. The listing involves a comprehensive submission process managed by the gender equality campaign of Business in the Community.

In 2015, Mercer embedded diversity objectives in its business strategy and now works to achieve a 50/50 gender split at all job grades. To enable this split Mercer takes a number of actions, including ensuring flexible working practices are available for all roles (including for managers), added focus on getting females into roles that traditionally have been more male dominated (such as sales leadership) and diverse shortlists for all senior hires to increase representation in key roles. All activities are measured so focus can be placed where it is most needed.
