- Christina Dove listed in the Power Part Timers category for senior leaders
Mercer’s Christina Dove has been named in the Power Part Timers category of the 2018 Timewise Power 50 list, a roll-call of the UK’s top flexible and part-time workers who are delivering in high-earning, business-critical roles with non-traditional working patterns.
With part-time and flexible working at senior levels continuing to move further into the spotlight, the unveiling of today’s new Timewise Power 50 awards, champions the people who are doing it best, and the organisations who are responding to how people in the UK want to work. This year’s awards feature 50 of the UK’s most senior part-time and flexible workers, across five different categories, recognising new definitions of success and an ever-evolving flexible jobs market – the Power Part Timers, the Power Job-Sharers, the Power Climbers, the Power Returners, and the Power Founders.
Since August 2017, Christina has been a Continuous Improvement Leader at Mercer. She is responsible for improving the culture across the firms’ global and European 3,200 strong service delivery teams and her remit includes creating a lean business culture within Mercer globally, delivering global transformation projects across operations in all its business lines. Her team of 25 people are based across the US, Portugal, Poland, UK and India. Christina started her career with Mercer in 1988 as an actuarial student, direct from university. She first went part-time to spend more time with her children while they were growing up and has kept her reduced hours to spend time with her family, invest in her own physical and mental wellbeing and to give back - most recently demonstrated by a hugely successful charity bike ride.
“At Mercer we strive to find the best possible work-life balance for our people to enable them to perform to their full potential,” said Fiona Dunsire, Mercer’s UK CEO. “We are delighted with Christina listing in the Power 50 and to be able to provide her and her colleagues with a flexible working environment to suit their circumstances. Any business that wants to grow and thrive needs to ensure its employees have the opportunity to thrive too.”
“I’m delighted and honoured to be recognised as a flexible working senior leader by Timewise, said Ms Dove. “Stigma around working part-time and the impact it has on career development is slowly disappearing and I am keen to demonstrate that it is possible to have a fulfilling and rewarding career, whilst working part time. Mind, body and spirit equilibrium are very important to me, and by taking personal control in all three of these areas, I have been able to find the right balance to thrive both in my professional and personal life. Mercer, my colleagues and family have all been pivotal in making flexible working successful for me, and I appreciate everyone who has supported me over the years.”
Timewise Joint CEO and judge Karen Mattison MBE, who led the initiative from the start says: “Christina and all winners from our top 50 represent how work in the UK is changing, and offers us a glimpse into how jobs will be designed in the future. All it takes is an open minded employer who is prepared to try something new in a bid to hire or keep the best people, and an innovative solution is born. I am delighted that the conversation is moving away from WHY people need to work flexibly, to HOW businesses and individuals are making it work.”
