The Pensions Act 2004 has had a major influence on the role of trustees and on expectations of how they will manage occupational pension schemes.

Trustees now have a statutory duty to have knowledge and understanding of the law relating to pensions and trusts, general funding and investment principles. They must also be conversant with their scheme documentation.

In the Pensions Regulator’s discussion paper on the governance of work-based Pension Schemes published in 2007, trustee education was confirmed as one of the Regulator’s key priorities.

Our course programme is designed to help trustees meet the challenging demands that their role entails.

Course objectives

  • To provide you with the knowledge and understanding that you require to undertake your role effectively.

  • To help trustees meet their statutory duties under the Pensions Act 2004 and other legislation.  The courses are specifically designed to cover the main areas set out in the Pensions Regulator’s Trustee Knowledge and Understanding scope guidance.

  • To enable you to share experiences and network with fellow trustees, practitioners and experts.

Who should attend our courses?

Our courses are primarily aimed at trustees, but anyone wishing to gain knowledge or up-to-date information on current pensions issues may benefit from attending.
